Sustainability & Circular Manufacturing

Built to Close the Loop

At Action BOX, sustainability isn't a marketing claim. It's an engineering decision. The SHREDII 8 was designed from the ground up to return plastic waste to the production cycle, enabling makers, educators, and small manufacturers to build more with less.

The Circular Manufacturing Workflow

Traditional manufacturing is linear: raw material in, product out, waste discarded. Circular manufacturing closes that loop. With the SHREDII 8 paired with the INJEKTO 3, your production cycle looks like this:

  1. Shred: Feed failed 3D prints, sprues, runners, and post-consumer plastic into the SHREDII 8. It processes HDPE, PP, ABS, PLA, and more.
  2. Reclaim: Shredded flake becomes feedstock. No pelletizer required for direct injection molding with the INJEKTO line.
  3. Remold: Feed reclaimed flake directly into your INJEKTO machine and produce new parts, closing the loop on material waste.
  4. Repeat: Most thermoplastics can be reprocessed multiple times without significant property degradation, extending material life across many production cycles.

What the SHREDII 8 Processes

The SHREDII 8 is engineered for real-world shop and lab conditions, handling a broad range of materials:

  • 3D-printed parts: PLA, PETG, ABS, and ASA failed prints and support structures
  • Injection molding waste: Sprues, runners, and rejected parts from your own INJEKTO production
  • Post-consumer plastics: HDPE bottles, PP containers, and similar rigid plastics
  • Aluminum cans: Processed into chips suitable for experimental casting and material research

Why It Matters for Your Operation

  • Reduce material costs: Reclaimed flake replaces virgin resin for non-critical applications, directly lowering your cost per part.
  • Minimize landfill waste: Failed prints and production scrap become raw material, not refuse.
  • Meet institutional sustainability requirements: Universities, makerspaces, and corporate R&D labs increasingly require documented waste-reduction practices. The SHREDII 8 provides a tangible, auditable solution.
  • Demonstrate circular manufacturing: Show students, clients, and stakeholders a complete closed-loop production system in a compact desktop footprint.

From Our Community

Makers and educators using the SHREDII 8 have reported diverting kilograms of plastic waste per month from landfill, while simultaneously reducing their raw material spend. Whether running a university fabrication lab, a product prototyping studio, or a small-batch manufacturing operation, the ability to close the material loop changes the economics and the ethics of production.
